KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 19): Astral Asia Bhd plans to diversify into e-commerce business and related activities.

The company, through wholly-owned Clean Link Sdn Bhd, will to launch a new e-commerce business in December 2020.

“This entails the retailing of consumer goods, initially household cleaning products which may in future, be expanded to include other consumer products that can be sold online,” Astral said in a statement yesterday.

“The cleaning products has been initially chosen by Clean Link to be sold on the e-commerce store as the board is of the view that current level of public awareness on hygiene and sanitation are at an all-time high,” it added.

The new e-commerce business will be a fully-online webstore which initially specialises in cleaning products, serving a predominantly female and internet-savvy market.

Clean Link intends to start its first phase business with a wide range of household fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Its initial service coverage area will be limited to consumers living in the Peninsular Malaysia.

Astral said it would also venture into commercial/industrial cleaning products and services in the future.
